An unsuccessful graduate of Real Madrid, Santos went on to play his first professional years in the third division, first with Hércules CF, then with UE Lleida.
After two Segunda División seasons with the Catalans, with relegation in 2006, Santos moved the following year to CD Tenerife, on a two-year deal.[1] However, after a successful first year, he left the Canary Islands, staying in the category with Elche CF.
